02/04/2025: We are back open, thankfully. FREE RESEARCH DAYS! Sunday, March 9, May 4, July 6, September 14, and November 16, 2025 2-4 p.m. If you are not a member, there is no fee to come in to research and no fee to use a cell phone to copy. We will have volunteers to assist you and even teach brand new researchers. (Special Membership sign up on any of those dates for $10.00 instead of $12.00 for singles or couples).

The Pigeon Roost Reunion is on Sunday, September 7, 2025, Noon. Bring food to share for the pitch in and a chair or blanket to sit.

2025 Meeting Dates: Sunday, April 27 (Scott County Cemeteries, presented by Norma and Jeannie); June 8; Sunday, August 17; October 19; and on November 9th, our annual Business Meeting. Meeting times are all 2-4 p.m. Public is always invited too. We do take up donations for refreshments and speakers’ fees.

We plan to resume our Cemetery Tours but not until Fall. Heat in Southern Indiana is just too extreme anymore. Saturday, October 4th (Cravens, Estil, and Owen/Bridgewater Cemeteries). November 8th (Oak Hill, Old Ox, and Leota Cemeteries). We will meet at the Scott County Heritage Center and Museum, 10 a.m. both days, unless raining. Bring a chair, water, and a sack lunch with you.

Location
The Research Rooms are located at 1050 South Main Street, Scottsburg, Indiana, in the back of the Scott County Heritage Center and Museum.
We are exactly 1 mile south of the Scott County Courthouse.
The Research Rooms are on the first floor and are handicapped accessible.

We are still working on our Endowment for the Genealogical Society’s (Indiana) future rent payments. 05/24/2024: The Research Rooms have added quite a bit of new information including Heacock, Righthouse, Johnson, Lightcap, Van Buskirk, President Kennedy, President Eisenhauer, Storms, Mace, and several others. Information is added monthly. We have a lot of information on Indiana counties and surrounding states. You don’t have to be a Scott Countian to find your family roots.
